The Real Miss Tulip
It’s not too often that folks wanting a new pet look towards adoping a Senior citizen, but that’s just what my dear friend Margaret did when she decided to bring Tulip into her home. It’s not like she needed another dog, she already has two, but there was something about this beautiful girl’s Spirit, that brightened up her male dominated household.
Tulips former owners were giving her up at the age of 12. I’m not sure how one gives away a family member they have had for 12 years, but that was the case. Instead of being put down, she was picked upby the beautiful soul that is my friend.
Tulip passed away last week at the age of 14. She was fortunate enough to have a vet come to her home to help her pass on without having to be jostled around in pain. She transitioned over to the other side, her spirit dimmed but not forgotten.
I found myself wanting to paint her in the worst sort of way. Maybe Tulip had something to do with that. Her Mom was hurting and she wanted me to do something to ease that pain and so without Margaret’s knowledge, I painted Tulip’s legacy portrait.
She hasn’t received it yet, but I sure hope she likes it as much as I do. …….frankie
